Golfing: A bogey is one more stroke than the par score of a hole. By way of illustration, when one takes five strokes on a par 4 hole, it is a bogey. It is a typical number that amateur players have, and it signifies a minor error or difficulty of the hole. Although not perfect, even a Bogey in golf is a respectable score, particularly when it is played by the recreational golfers who are perfecting their consistency.
