So, I’ve been helping take care of my grandma lately, and it’s got me wondering — what exactly counts as a caregiver? I mean, I do things like cook for her, remind her to take her meds, drive her to appointments, and just generally check in every day. But I’ve never really thought of myself as an “official” caregiver. Is there like a clear list of responsibilities or roles that define what a caregiver is? Just trying to understand if what I’m doing actually fits into that category.

Hey, I totally get where you’re coming from. I felt the same way when I started looking after my uncle a while back. I thought I was just “helping out,” but the more I learned, the more I realized I was basically a full-time caregiver. There’s actually a really helpful breakdown of what a caregiver does — things like personal care, emotional support, medication management, and more. I came across this article that might clear things up for you. It’s a good read on caregiver definition and what’s usually expected. Sounds like you’re already doing way more than you thought!

Just came across this topic while scrolling and it made me think about how many people out there are acting as caregivers without even realizing it. It’s such a demanding role, and honestly, it deserves a lot more recognition. Cool to see people sharing their experiences and asking these kinds of questions.
