I’m a parent trying to stay informed about what my kids are using online, and I recently found out they were talking about Omegle. I did a bit of research and was shocked at what I saw. Now I’m seriously wondering that is Omegle safe for kids?
From what I can tell, Omegle connects users to random strangers through text or video chat, and there’s little to no age verification. Even though there’s a so-called “monitored” section, I’m skeptical about how well it actually protects younger users. It feels way too easy for kids to be exposed to inappropriate or even dangerous content.
I’m not trying to overreact, I just want to understand the risks. Have any other parents dealt with this? Do you allow your kids to use Omegle, or have you banned it completely? Are there any safer alternatives out there that still let kids socialize online in a more controlled environment?
