When it comes to minion builds in Path of Exile, certain crafted items become cornerstones for pushing into endgame content. One of the most iconic of these is the so-called Spork Gloves-originally popularized for Spark builds but now repurposed for high-end Spectre setups. Whether you're farming juiced maps, pushing deep into bosses, or simply trying to min-max your army of undead allies, these gloves can give your spectres the perfect combination of power and utility.

In this guide, we'll walk through why these gloves are so important, how to craft them at different budget levels, and how to push them into best-in-slot territory POE currency.

Why Spork Gloves Matter for Spectre Builds

Spectre builds in Path of Exile rely heavily on scaling the damage of your minions, and different spectres bring unique strengths to your army. For this particular setup, the focus is on Regulus spectres. These minions have strong damage output but one major weakness:

They have no base critical strike chance.

Normally, this would mean crit scaling isn't worthwhile. However, crafting crit chance and crit multi into their support gear serves a hidden purpose: it allows them to shock enemies.

Shocks in PoE increase damage taken by enemies, making them an incredible utility debuff for clearing maps. While single-target damage is often covered by another spectre (such as Spirit of Fortune, which can apply shock on bosses), map clearing becomes vastly smoother when Regulus spectres can apply shocks on their own.

That's where Spork Gloves come in. These gloves act as a pseudo-six-link for your spectres, providing powerful supports like:

     Slower Projectiles

     Faster Casting

     Faster Projectiles

     Crit Multi (high-budget version)

This frees up sockets in your chest and gives your minions the ability to both clear faster and apply shocks consistently.

    Step 1: Choosing the Base

The first decision is the glove base. Historically, Spark versions of Spork Gloves used Energy Shield bases, but for Spectre builds, you want an Armour base instead.

    Why?

Armour bases like Leviathan Gauntlets give you survivability that ES bases lack.

For this setup, you don't actually need Energy Shield or ES regen-you want the raw durability of armour while your spectres handle the damage.

    Requirements:

     Shaper-influenced gloves (for Faster Casting).

Item Level 85+ (to unlock the necessary mods).

For endgame setups, you'll often combine Shaper + Elder influence using an Awakener's Orb.

Step 2: The Budget Entry Version

If you're just getting started, you don't need to dump 20-30 divines into your first pair. A simple two-mod setup can carry you through mid-game mapping.

    The target mods are:

     Slower Projectiles (Shaper/Elder)

     Faster Casting (Shaper)

     Method: Fossil Crafting

Socket the base with Aetheric + Dense + Pristine fossils.

     Average cost: 50-55 chaos orbs.

Crafting odds: decent, since the fossil combo narrows the pool significantly.

This setup doesn't include crit scaling, but it gives you a pseudo-six-link with solid clear speed for almost no investment.

Step 3: Mid-Tier Version (Triple Mod Setup)

Once you've farmed a few divines, the next upgrade is adding Faster Projectiles into the mix, giving your spectres even smoother clears.

    Crafting Method

1.Start with a Shaper + Elder influenced Leviathan Gauntlet (via Awakener's Orb or by slamming an influence orb).

    2.Target the following mods:

     Slower Projectiles

     Faster Casting

     Faster Projectiles

Use the same fossil method (Aetheric + Dense + Pristine).

Average cost: ~500 chaos (about 3-4 divines).

At this point, you'll have the key three-mod combo that feels great for mapping and still doesn't break the bank.

Step 4: High-End Crit Version (The True Spork Gloves)

For juiced mapping and true endgame farming, the final step is incorporating crit chance and crit multi. This is the expensive version, but it makes your spectres apply shocks reliably across entire packs.

    Method Overview

    1.Base Setup:

Acquire a Shaper + Elder armour base.

Use an Awakener's Orb if needed.

    2.Essence Crafting:

Use Essence of Horror to force the "Socketed Gems deal 30% more Elemental Damage" mod.

On average, this takes ~27 Horror essences.

Current market value: ~4 divines for the essences, plus ~2 divines for the Awakener's Orb.

3.Lock Suffixes & Target Crit Multi:

     Benchcraft "Suffixes Cannot Be Changed."

     Use a Harvest Reforge Caster.

Because the pool is limited, this guarantees Critical Strike Multiplier for Spells if an open suffix exists.

4.Lock Again & Force Faster Projectiles:

If suffixes are full, add the meta-mod again (via bench or Bestiary beast Wild Bristle Matron).

     Use a Harvest Reforge Speed.

This guarantees Faster Projectiles because it's the only valid speed-tagged mod.5.Finish the Item:

Add life or hybrid life as a bench craft.

If you get lucky, slam for another useful prefix (like armour or extra life).

    Total Cost Estimate

     10-15 divines minimum.

Can spike higher depending on Horror essence prices and fossil market swings.

But the result? A true best-in-slot pair of Spork Gloves capable of carrying spectres through the highest tiers of content with consistent shocks.

Step 5: Alternatives and Money-Saving Tricks

If you don't want to commit to the high-budget version right away, there are a few cost-saving strategies:

Skip Crit Scaling - Just run the three-mod version until you have the currency. Your clear will still be solid, though you'll miss out on shock utility.

Use Wild Bristle Matron - Instead of paying two divines for "Suffixes Cannot Be Changed," you can beastcraft the meta-mod for much cheaper.

Sell Failed Crafts - Sometimes you'
