    Hi everyone,
I’m working on a project involving display cases, and I need advice on how to get scratches out of acrylic.

Some scratches are light, while others are deep enough to distort clarity.

I’ve tried basic polishing compounds but the results are inconsistent.

Is wet sanding followed by buffing the best approach, or are there industry-grade solutions that work faster?

I’m open to product recommendations and step-by-step repair methods that restore a crystal-clear finish without damaging the material.

Any professional insights or tried-and-tested techniques would be a huge help.

    Thanks in advance.

To get scratches out of acrylic, I recommend starting with a clean surface and using progressively finer sandpaper — for example, 800 → 1200 2000 grit and then buffing with a dedicated plastic polish.

If the scratches are minor, you can skip sanding and just use a polishing compound like Novus 2. For deep marks, wet sanding is essential before polishing.

Avoid flame polishing unless you have experience, as overheating can cause cloudiness. Always finish with a microfiber cloth to achieve a smooth, clear finish and prevent re-scratching.
